Meeting Highlights:

• Treasurers Report for September & October was distributed by Cyrus, discussed and approved; $1600~ in Administration fund and $62K~ in Conservation fund
• Ross Cardwell, Boy Scouts of America and Chuck Womack, Tennessee Parks & Ringway Foundation discussed Mid Cumberland Wilderness Projects; development of a trail system that could be used; looking for people to support and manage; development, promotion and protection of
• Ross and Brenda Cardwell – Friends of Scott’s Gulf; spoke of “blazing trails” by getting assistance from local residents using “word-of-mouth”; much volunteer support for physical projects within Scott’s Gulf State Park
• Christmas on the Mountain – vendor spots full – 48; Scott motion to limit vendors to 2 tables; Roland seconded; Roland motion amendment if spaces available following vendor application closeout, then allow more than 2 tables; Scott seconded
• Executive Board meeting a month ago (following Folk Festival); gave deNise $0.50 per hour raise retroactive to 3 months following employment
• Bylaws – deNise stated some things in bylawys not being properly executed; suggested whould only be discussed among board members
• Annual Meeting – a lot of people in attendance last year complained that too much business was discussed last year; December meeting should be just to answer questions about Friends – Business meeting to resume in January; Motion by Roland; Seconded by Shawn
• December Annual meeting should include:
• What was accomplished during past year
• Vision or Goals for next year
• Cheryl asked Stuart for list of days needed to assist with t-shirt sales (tie dye)
• Volunteer suggestion – 1 day a month dedicated to Friends – to get work out – need a designated volunteer coordinator; Ron Graham appointed and elected as general board member for this role; Motion by Roland; Seconded by Shawn; Scott motioned to give Ron until January to come up with a plan; Seconded by Roland
• Flowerbeds in front of Nature Center have had new plants added; no weeding or weed control though
• Stuart – State Park staffer in Nature Center – attendance is spotty – deNise needs help with accounting and inventory; also needs helps keeping front desk open; need someone behind desk to provide trail information; perhaps a retiree/volunteer; this would be an unpaid position
• Larry has assisted with sales
• Cyrus mentioned the need for a better filing system
• deNise needs teaching on how to organize finances
