The Betty Dunn Nature Center located in Fall Creek Falls State Park was dedicated to the First Lady of Tennessee by Tennessee House Resolution No. 328 in February, 1974, for her tireless energy, creativeness, and talent towards developing the Nature Center into a facility.  Today the Betty Dunn Nature Center includes a small interpretive center and a bookstore/ gift shop operated by the Friends of Fall Creek Falls.  The interpretive center provides information on the region’s geologic history, vegetation, ecology, wildlife and cultural history.  The bookstore/ gift shop contains resource books for all ages on various natural and cultural resources in Tennessee, especially those on the Cumberland Plateau.  Other items of local origin and gifts that are Fall Creek Falls specific are available at the bookstore as well.

The interpretive staff based at the Nature Center, along with other park rangers, provide programs for the general public, private groups, and school field trips. Programs include various nature hikes, canoe trips, pontoon rides, team building, and much more. Contact the Nature Center at 423.881.5708 if you would like to schedule a school group or organization, or contact Ranger Matthew Brown by email.
